SUMMARY:American Revolution\, the Augmented Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Tickets are on sale now for the Charlotte Museum of History’s most ambitious exhibition ever\, American Revolution\, the Augmented Exhibition\, opening April 14\, 2026. Developed by Histovery in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution\, this national exhibition uses cutting-edge augmented reality and interactive 3D recreations to immerse visitors in the defining moments of 1763–1789. Using Histovery’s patented HistoPad tablet\, guests can explore events such as the Boston Tea Party\, the Constitutional Convention\, and the Battle of Yorktown\, while visiting historic Boston\, Philadelphia\, and New York and learning about the diverse individuals who shaped America’s founding. The Charlotte Museum of History is the only venue in the Carolinas to host the exhibition\, which will travel nationwide through 2031 as part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. \nThe exhibition is especially meaningful at the museum’s historic site\, home to the 1774 Alexander Rock House and its original owner\, Hezekiah Alexander\, a Revolutionary statesman and framer of North Carolina’s first Constitution and Bill of Rights. Recently designated a site of statewide historic significance—one of only ten properties in North Carolina to hold this rare distinction—the Rock House underscores the region’s deep Revolutionary roots. In addition to the national exhibition\, the museum will feature a dedicated gallery on the Revolution in the Carolinas\, highlighting stories such as Captain Jack’s ride to Philadelphia and pivotal victories at King’s Mountain and Cowpens. Tickets are available now at charlottemuseum.org/america250.

SUMMARY:Breaking Through Brick Walls with Denyse Allen (Olde Meck April Meeting)
DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 8 for a practical and engaging program with Denyse Allen\, founder of Chronicle Makers\, where she helps family historians turn decades of research into published stories their families will actually read. \nDenyse’s presentation\, “Breaking Through Brick Walls: AI-Powered Research Strategies That Actually Work\,” will focus on how AI can help genealogists take a fresh look at stubborn research problems. Stuck ancestors are not always truly stuck — sometimes they simply require new strategies and a different way of analyzing the evidence already in hand. \nIn this engaging session\, Denyse will demonstrate how AI can help researchers: \n\nanalyze evidence they already have\nidentify gaps in their research\ngenerate new search strategies\nconnect records they may have overlooked

SUMMARY:Deadly Gold Rush: Stories from Charlotte's 1830s Gold Rush and a Modern Day Mystery
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday morning to hear from the author of the new history mystery: Deadly Gold Rush: An Indie Retirement Mystery. Landis Wade will discuss the real stories behind the book\, discuss his writing process\, and offer a chance to dig into the history of gold mining in the Queen City. After the talk\, join us on a guided tour of the 1774 Rock House – Charlotte oldest building – and see a cooking demonstration on an original kitchen hearth led by Janet Wade. \nSigned copies of books will be available for purchase at the event. \nMore information about the book: \nWhen a shady real estate developer is found murdered beneath Harriet Keaton’s family home—shot\, stabbed\, and surrounded by rare 1830s gold coins—her estranged twin brother Joey is the prime suspect. He insists he’s innocent…but won’t name the real culprit. With Joey refusing to talk and millions missing from the retirement accounts\, the future of the Independence Retirement Community is suddenly on the line. Now\, whipsmart Harriet and her sleuthing partners—Craig Travail (savvy lawyer\, reluctant romantic) and Yeager Alexander (conspiracy theorist\, resident rabble-rouser)—must dig into the past to solve the crime. Their best lead? A decades-old memoir from Harriet’s treasure-obsessed father and whispers of a long-lost gold hoard. But treasure has a way of attracting trouble. As fortunes vanish and suspects multiply\, the trio must untangle two decades of betrayal—before the killer strikes again.
