SUMMARY:Atlas Preservation 48 State Tour - Old Settlers Cemetery
DESCRIPTION:https://48statetour.com/ \nEvery workshop will be unique and have somewhat different content dependent upon the varying preservation needs! Since these events are site specific\, we will discuss topics relating to the region where each event is held. We will make a concerted effort to perform as many different types of repairs as possible that represent the most common problems associated with gravestone preservation. \nAll 48 State Tour events are free and open to the public!  -Some localities may request pre-registration. Information on how to register will be available on the event page. We try to present as much info as we can! Any additional information regarding a location (i.e. accommodations\, restroom facilities\, etc.) can be directed toward the local host. \n

Learn about and sample original cosmetic and skincare techniques in your very own take-home kit. Receive an informational packet along with instructions on the various styles and looks that were popular at the time. We will debunk some myths and have fun as we learn tips and tricks of historical beauty application and the ideology behind 18th-century artifice. \nYour ticket includes: \n\n\nTwo complimentary drinks \n\n\nLight bites (charcuterie) \n\n\nA history lesson with Alicia Schult \n\n\nA curated take-home cosmetic box set (a $85 value)” \n\n\nCome prepared to learn\, create\, and see the 18th century through a new lens\, one powder puff at a time. \nAlicia’s mission is to bring ancient knowledge of natural and herbal remedies to modern audiences in a way that is accessible and understandable. She strives to uncover hidden recipes and reproduce them\, making this knowledge and healing abilities available to the world through her products. She inspires and educates others\, just like her grandmother did for her. \nShe lives with her partner and their two apothecary cats in Wisconsin. They love traveling the world\, perusing antiques and junk shops\, and looking for lost information. Before the Historical Apothecary\, Alicia self-published a few sewing and drafting manuals to more accurately facilitate and recreate modern historical garments. Currently\, she is branching out and writing a novel rooted not in the historical apothecary but in other lost ancient wisdom. \nShe has been studying the ancient and historical art of compounding natural and herbal ingredients and their uses throughout history for over 35 years. She has degrees in history\, museum work\, anthropology\, and archaeology. She enjoys teaching classes and giving lectures on historical beauty and apothecaries throughout history. Before the apothecary\, she had her own bespoke historical clothing business and worked in the museum world. She still collaborates with museums for her work and has an extensive collection of original apothecary and beauty products\, along with other artifacts\, archives\, and manuscripts. Her work can be seen in many museums around the world.
