$10Join Historic Preservation Specialist Tommy Warlick to learn more about the Mecklenburg County Historic Landmarks Department, its campaign to preserve the county’s historical resources for future generations, and how you can get involved.
From cleaning headstones at the historic Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church cemeteries to launching new initiatives like the Bookmarks local history book club and QR code placards for the county’s 375+ designated historic landmarks, the Historic Landmarks Department is redoubling its efforts to help Mecklenburg County remember its history by preserving its past today. Come see what’s going on and how you can help!
Tommy Warlick spent 28 years practicing law – from working with the federal judiciary to serving as in-house counsel for NASCAR – before switching career paths to focus on public history. Since 2020, after earning a Master’s degree in history from UNC-Charlotte, he has worked with the Mecklenburg County Historic Landmarks Department. Tommy also holds degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, the Emory University School
of Law, and the John Marshall Law School at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
