Spring meeting of the North Carolina Presbyterian Historical Society

February 27 - February 28

The Spring meeting of the North Carolina Presbyterian Historical Society will be February 27-28 to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge, 20 miles NW of Wilmington. Friday the 27th is the main feature of a several-day celebration at Moore’s Creek where the first Revolutionary battle in N.C. and the South was fought. We will be guests at the tent of the Scottish Society of Wilmington.

Saturday morning the 28th we will travel from Wilmington to Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site where the Cape Fear Scottish Immigration Memorial Fund has established a magnificent Memorial cairn overlooking the Cape Fear where immigrant ships unloaded at least 20,000 Scots, mostly Highlanders.

Saturday afternoon we will visit Black River Presbyterian Church in Ivanhoe, NC. Black River is a Highlander kirk with the congregation formed in the 1700’s.

Hotel accommodations are at the Embassy Suites in Wilmington (ask for Presby. History Society rate. Tel. 833-314-9815)
